The STIHL MSA 220 TC-O battery arborist saw delivers high cutting performance and plenty of convenience in professional tree care, gardening and landscaping, as well as for local authorities, for treetop care and removal of stem shoots. Featuring a powerful EC engine it offers outstanding performance and when paired with the potent STIHL AP 300 S Battery, it delivers exceptional cutting performance. The STIHL MSA 220 TC-O uses the STIHL AP System and is one of the most powerful battery top-handle saws in the STIHL range.
Key features include oil sensor that continuously measures the amount of chain oil present in the power tool, helping you to work efficiently. Built-in felling guide on the fan and power take-off side helps you to make precise cuts.
It’s electronic operating system with status LED supports the mechanical chain brake (also with LED) and provides highly intuitive operation. The LEDs are clustered in a cockpit with a 180° display so that you can quickly see the status of your arborist saw at any time.

- SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING: FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
- OIL SENSOR: FOR CONTROL AND MONITORING OF THE OIL SUPPLY. The LED display on the oil sensor informs you about the delivery of chain lubricant. If the LED is red, there is not enough chain oil reaching the chain. When the oil supply is sufficient, the LED is off.
- NON-WOVEN AIR FILTER: FOR EFFECTIVE PROTECTION OF POWER ELECTRONICS AND ENGINE PARTS. The non-woven air filter filters sawdust, fine dust and dirt from the cooling air flow. This keeps the heat sinks of the power electronics and the engine parts clean in the long term. The removed non-woven air filter can be easily and effectively cleaned with STIHL Varioclean and then reused. Cleaning should be carried out regularly – monthly in the event of heavy use.
- TOOL-FREE FUEL CAP FOR OIL TANKS: QUICK AND EASY TO USE. Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.
- CAPTIVE NUTS: PROTECTION AGAINST LOSS The nuts are attached to the sprocket cover in a captive manner. This makes it impossible for the nuts to fall off and get lost when the cover is removed.
- REMOVABLE BATTERY SLOT: FOR EASY CLEANING. When cleaning your battery power tool, you can simply remove the battery slot in just a few simple steps.
